
About the President
Brian Garber has served as the Division Director of Florida’s Division of Disability Determination since 12/2015 but has spent nearly his entire 26 year career at the Florida DDS. Brian started in the DDS straight out of college in support, then worked as an Adjudicator at all levels and then as a Trainer. Left the DDS to pursue ownership in the restaurant business, but returned two years later. Brian then worked as an Adjudicator again until he found himself in Administration. In Administration, Brian held positions of Operations Manager, Bureau Chief of Operations and then as the Director
Brian has held leadership positions in the National Council of Disability Determinations Directors (NCDDD) as President Elect (2022-2024), and Atlanta Region Representative to the Board of Trustees. As President his focus is on the NCDDD mission to provide the highest possible level of service to persons with disabilities, to promote the interests of the state operated Disability Determination Services and to represent the DDS Directors, their management teams, and staffs.
In addition to directing the operation of the DDS, Brian has devoted time to national workgroups and committees, including the National Case Processing Systems Community of Practice. He enjoys networking with colleagues and working collaboratively to solve the challenges facing the DDS community.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Valdosta State University in Criminal Justice. Brian played collegiate baseball all four years in school. Two years at Gulf Coast Community College and then two at Valdosta State University. Brian is married with two boys and resided in Tallahassee, FL.
